In the poker world there seem to be varied opinions of where and when exactly poker originates from. But the general consensus seems to be that the game of poker comprises elements from various types of card games or “vying games” from a variety of different countries and cultures.

Texas hold’em poker then started to feature outside of Nevada as well, caught on like wildfire, and soon spread to the rest of the world. The real explosion of texas hold’em though, came when Binions’ Horseshoe was purchased by Harrah’s Entertainment in 2004. Harrah’s sold the original casino, kept the rights to the WSOP, and moved it to their own Hotel & Casino, the Rio, which is located just off the Las Vegas Strip.
